University of Lumière Lyon 2
Founded in 1973, the University of Lumière Lyon 2 has always had an ambitious and challenging perspective of higher education and research. Their values of humanity, solidarity, commitment, inclusion, democracy and social responsibility make it a unique university.
As a founding member of the Community of universities and institutions (ComUE) of the Lyon-Saint-Étienne academic site, the University hosts more than 27,000 students, from undergraduate to doctoral level, spread over two campuses and two sites.
The University of Lumière Lyon 2 offers courses in 13 educational units, organised into four main areas:
- Arts, Literature, Languages;
- Law, Economics, Management;
- Humanities and Social Sciences;
- Sciences, Technology, Health.
Recognised for the richness of its humanities and social sciences fields of study, the University of Lumière Lyon 2 carries out high level research in each of its areas of expertise. Attentive to major contemporary issues – gender, education, work, urban environment, disability – the university actively contributes to social progress through its research programmes and its numerous knowledge-sharing initiatives.
