14th Sino-European International Tourism Conference

The 14th Sino-European International Tourism Conference (SEITC 2027) will take place at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, from 5 to 7 July 2027. This edition will explore themes including intercultural dialogue, territorial change, social sustainability, heritage, governance, environmental transition, innovation and tourism futures. Rooted in long-standing academic cooperation between China and Europe, the 14th Sino-European Conference will bring together scholars, researchers, practitioners and doctoral students to discuss contemporary transformations in tourism from geographical, cultural and territorial perspectives. Abstract submissions are now open.
SEITC 2027 offers a distinctive conference experience combining:
- International and intercultural academic dialogue
- Research at the intersection of tourism, geography, culture and territory
- Opportunities to connect scholars from Europe, China and other world regions
- A field-based conference day linking scientific debate with real territories and communities
- Academic, cultural and social experiences in Coimbra and Central Portugal
Under the theme “Tourism, culture and geography: connecting places, peoples and futures”, the conference welcomes critical, interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives on intercultural dialogue, territorial transformation, social sustainability, heritage, governance, environmental transition, innovation and tourism futures.
Conference Themes
SEITC 2027 is structured around six broad scientific themes:
- 1. China–Europe tourism dialogue, culture and international cooperation
- 2. Geography, territory and tourism dynamics
- 3. Social sustainability, communities and inclusive tourism
- 4. Heritage, patrimonialisation and tourism
- 5. Governance, policy and tourism futures
- 6. Innovation, education and emerging perspectives in tourism
Authors should indicate one primary thematic axis and may select one secondary thematic axis where relevant.
Submission guidelines and dates
- Abstract submission deadline: 15 January 2027
- Final notification: 15 February 2027
- Early registration deadline: 28 April 2027
- Regular registration deadline: 2 June 2027
- Conference: 5–7 July 2027
Submissions must take the form of an anonymous abstract in English, with 400–600 words. Authors should select one primary thematic axis and may indicate one secondary thematic axis from the six conference themes.
All submissions will undergo an anonymous scientific review. Authors may be asked to revise their abstract before final inclusion in the conference programme.
Selected contributions presented at SEITC 2027 may be considered for subsequent publication opportunities.
