Departure rate
The departure rate is used to measure a country’s tourist-generating intensity. The net rate measures the ratio of the number of people who have left to the total population of the departure area. It is always less than 100% as not everyone leaves during their holidays. The gross rate measures the ratio of the total number of stays made to the population of the departure area. It is always above 100 and above the net rate as tourist trips can be divided into several stays during the year.
